Parks and Recreation

South Lake Union is an emerging playground for popular waterfront activities such as kayaking, sailing and canoeing, and two neighborhood parks are currently undergoing major renovations that will create even more recreational opportunities.

The new 12-acre Lake Union Park will be a beautiful new waterfront resource for the entire city to enjoy. The park will offer a variety of recreational activities and peaceful open space—perfect for picnics, festivals, boardwalk strolls and more. Cascade Park and Playground, in South Lake Union's Cascade neighborhood, now features a new playfield and playground equipment, lush native landscaping, a new outdoor plaza and much more. The eco-friendly park is also adjacent to an active community P-Patch. Cascade Park is a great place to enjoy a game of Frisbee, play in a softball tournament or enjoy a book in the shade of tall trees.
